On April 19, 2019, the delegation of the University of Hokkaido (Japan) visited St. Petersburg State Agrarian University. Hokkaido University is among the top ten universities in Japan. The Japanese delegation included Kawanobe So, professor, deputy director of the institute of international cooperation, Saito Yukiyoshi, manager of the institute of international cooperation, Khatayeva Tatyana, specialist of the institute of international cooperation.
During the visit there were the negotiations with Japanese colleagues about the possibilities of cooperation between Hokkaido University and St. Petersburg State Agrarian University, in particular, about the possibility of training our students and professors at universities in Japan.
On the Russian side Nadezhda Ermilova, director of the center for international cooperation and academic mobility of SPbSAU, and Maria Miguleva, head of the department for international cooperation attended the meeting.
Hokkaido University is one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. Hokkaido University was founded in 1876. The main Sapporo campus is located just north of Sapporo Station, in the heart of Sapporo City. It is listed in the top university category. In 2018, QS World University Rankings ranked Hokkaido University at 122th in the world (7th in Japan). In the same year, the Times Higher Education(THE) Japan ranked them 6th in Japan. According to the estimation of specialists, the best programs are: «Art and Humanities», «Engineering», «Life Sciences and Medicine», «Natural Sciences», «Social Sciences and Management», «Chemistry». According to the Weekly Economist's 2010 rankings, undergraduates from Hokkaido have the 49th best employment rate in 400 major companies in Japan.
